School Holiday Programme at The Y Ellerslie

Bookings open now!

Looking for a fun holiday programme your tamariki will love?

We know the last thing any child wants to do is to waste their holidays doing something boring! That’s why our holiday programme at The Y (formerly known as YMCA) Ellerslie Recreation Centre is jam-packed with activities for kids. One day children could be tackling a rock climbing wall, and the next, they could be jumping into a jet boat.

Fun, engaging programmes

It’s important to us that each child has fun in a safe environment, where they can learn new skills, make new friends and do stuff that they wouldn’t normally get to do. Our friendly, welcoming staff are all highly trained and completely dedicated to helping your kids have an amazing, safe time.

Our programme activities run 9 am-3 pm unless otherwise stated in the brochure. Programme hours are 7 am-6 pm. There is also the option of a short day, 8:30 am-3 pm, with the centre-based programme.

Holiday Programmes at The Y Ellerslie

Safeguarding our tamariki

For years The Y has provided a safe and secure environment, where kids can just be’ and enjoy their time with us. We want to support every parent by not only being a fun programme, but also a safe haven where kids’ development is supported and learning is recognised.

The Y is Aotearoa’s first and only accredited organisation through the Australian Childhood Foundation (ACF). We are proud to lead the children’s workforce as a child-safe organisation. Find out more.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you do WINZ subsidies

Yes, we do! As an approved holiday programme, parents who are eligible can access the OSCAR subsidy from Work and Income. If this is you, contact oscar@ymcaauckland.org.nz as we need to complete Part C of the application form, and you will need to pay a 20% deposit. There are different subsidy rates depending on your eligibility – check out www.winz.govt.nz for more information.

How can I make a booking to the programme

The Y uses an online booking system called AimyPlus. To book, you will need to register first on https://ymca-akl-ham-bop.aimyplus.com/ - this is where you will put in all your details, and information about your child/ren including any medical conditions, and who can collect your child.

What clothing/equipment do we need to bring

Active kids are happy kids! Clothing children can move in is best, and for those who go hard, a change of clothes is always great to have in the bag. Children will need to bring a drinkbottle, sunhat, raincoat, morning tea and lunch every day.

    What happens if it rains?

Most of our activity providers can operate in the wet - kids just need to bring a raincoat! However, if the weather is not good (heavy rain, hail, thunder/lightning) and we do not have shelter available, or the weather has made it unsafe (e.g slippery surface), we will cancel the activity and replace it with something else.

      Where do we meet/go

The Y Ellerslie Recreation Centre is located at 46 Michaels Ave, in the Michaels Ave Reserve. Please park in the lower carpark and walk up to the centre.

        Signing in process

Children must be signed in and out each day by an authorised person. You can add as many people as you would like into your AimyPlus profile to collect your child. If someone turns up to collect a child and they are not on the approved list, we will call you to confirm. If your child will be making their own way to/from the programme please email oscar@ymcaauckland.org.nz so you can complete the arrive/depart unaccompanied form.
