School Camps at Shakespear Lodge, Auckland

Enriching and fun experiences for your next school camp

Only 50 minutes outside Auckland, Shakespear Lodge offers schools both residential and day camps. Beautiful Shakespear Regional Park – just on the school camp’s doorstep – has farmland, bush and safe beaches, while The Y (formerly known as YMCA) offers a wide range of outdoor and adventure activities to enhance your EOTC programme at Shakespear Lodge.

We all have fond memories of going on school camp, and it’s no wonder - school camps in New Zealand are such an important part of our schooling tradition. Modern life has its pressures that can make school camps a challenge to organise, but with over 30 years’ experience of running The Y school camps, Shakespear Lodge knows what works. We can help you to facilitate your school camp to make it an enjoyable and enriching experience your students will remember.

In our beautiful surroundings and with so many adventure activities, you and your students can look forward to a fun and rewarding school camp at Shakespear Lodge.

Shakespear Lodge currently offers the following school camps:

Residential school camps of three to five days, staying at Shakespear Lodge.

Day programmes for schools who prefer to stay locally, or to bring their students for a day of outdoor and adventure activities.

Residential school camps or activity programmes for groups staying at the Te Haruhi Camp Ground (run by the Auckland Council) in Shakespear Regional Park.

PROGRAMME PLANNING

Our activities are run with the philosophy of: education first; when you have learnt how to be successful, fun and enjoyment will follow. Many participants have chosen to take an activity further having laid the foundations while taking part in an activity led by The Y Shakespear Lodge staff.

The Y Shakespear Lodge is committed to providing the safest outdoor activities we can. As part of this commitment for the last nine years we have had our activity safety management system audited and certified through the OutdoorsMark accreditation scheme.

Planning a camp can be a daunting task. For the staff at The Y Shakespear Lodge, programme design and development is a part of daily life. We have many years of experience with groups of all descriptions, so if we can help in any way, please do let us know.
