Pickleball is one of the world’s fastest-growing sports. A fun mix of tennis and badminton that’s easy to learn, low-impact and highly social. Accessible to all ages, it’s simple to pick up yet challenging to master, making it the “backyard sport taken up a notch” that so many players find addictive.

A Community-Led Beginning

A group of local Pickleball enthusiasts approached The Y North Shore in search of a place to call home and to grow the sport they are passionate about. That led to the launch of Pickleball at The Y North Shore in July this year, and the response has been incredible. Since then, more than 345 different players have taken part in over 70 sessions, with around 200 people now playing every week. Many are brand new to The Y, showing how the sport is helping bring more of the community together.

Pickleball Fever

Pickleball is easy to learn, welcoming for beginners, and a fun way for people of all ages to play together. Its low-impact style appeals to both younger and older players seeking a social sport without the strain of a full-sized court. Fast-paced, inclusive, and community-driven, Pickleball reflects The Y’s mission to create opportunities for everyone to stay active and connected.
