The Y Camp Adair is one of NZ's oldest and largest camps and we would love to host your group!

Established in 1913, The Y Camp Adair (formerly known as the YMCA) in Hunua has provided thousands of Kiwis the opportunity to develop themselves using the great outdoors. Overlooking the stunning Hunua Ranges Regional Park, YMCA Camp Adair covers 100 acres and includes four self-contained areas that can accommodate a total of 374 people.

At The Y Camp Adair, we love welcoming people from all walks of life. Examples of groups that have used our camp have included (but are not limited to); community groups, family groups, corporate team building, church retreats, sports teams and school camps from Auckland and beyond. If you are a group of people who need a venue, you will find everything you need for your outdoor adventure experience – accommodation, indoor facilities, catering and most importantly our amazing activities!

Everyone who visits our unique camp in Hunua gets the opportunity to enjoy the fresh air, open fields and the native bush of Auckland’s oldest regional park right on our doorstep.

Camp Services & Facilities at a Glance

Self-Contained Villages

Camp Adair boasts three self contained villages all with exclusive dining halls, cabins, toilets and showers, BBQ and camp fire facilities collectively offering over 374 beds.

Field Camp

For a unique camping experience field camp offers 60 beds in a camping environment with a full operational camping kitchen, toilets and showers.

Catering Services

Camp Adair offers a full catering service with daily or single meal options or for those who prefer YMCA's three self contained villages provide the flexibility of self catering.

Outdoor Activities

Camp Adair offers a range of outdoor activities delivered by fully trained staff. All of our clients have the opportunity to experience land based activities such as low/high ropes, confidence courses, adventure based learning games (ABL), archery, hiking and much more. Additionally our water based activities include kayaking raft building, river traverse and our much loved mudslide .

Spaces For Hire

Camp Adair offers a wide range of spaces from the old school house - suitable for a meeting or breakout room. The recreation hall has a full sized basketball court that is great for wet weather options. YMCA Camp Adair has multiple wide open fields which collectively cater to many needs.

Camp Adair recognises the needs of every group are different and tailors every programme to the unique requirements of the cutomer from weddings to corporate events, school groups and more.

The Y clears the way for a major conservation project

We all remember the extensive damage caused by Cyclone Gabrielle across New Zealand, and some of you may remember the devastation the storm caused to The Y’s Camp Adair, when the normally peaceful Wairoa River, which flows through the camp, burst its banks. The force of the water took out the bridge, fences, and buildings, leaving chaos in its wake.
