Frequently Asked Questions

Below are responses to common questions. If you can't find what you're looking for, please contact your local centre for help.

Are you OSCAR (Winz subsidy) accredited?

Yes, we are! As an approved holiday programme, eligible parents can access the OSCAR subsidy from Work and Income. If this is you, contact oscar@ymcaauckland.org.nz (if you are in Auckland) or oscar.waikato@ymcanorth.org.nz (if you are in the Waikato) as we need to complete the appropriate subsidy forms. There is a 20% deposit payable for your booking to be confirmed. Different subsidy rates are available depending on your eligibility – check out www.winz.govt.nz for more information.

How can I make a school holiday programme booking?

  1. If you are applying for the OSCAR subsidy, please contact us on oscar.waikato@ymcanorth.org.nz and we will assist you with your booking. If you are not applying for the OSCAR subsidy, choose the location and age group of the programme you want to book from the list of available options on the Y’s website and follow to steps below.

2. If you are a new parent/caregiver using our service you will need to register before you make a booking. Register your child/ren, where you will provide your details, information about your child/ren, and any medical conditions or special needs they have on http://ymca-akl-ham-bop.aimyplus.com/Parent/Register

3. Make a booking for the desired programme and dates on AimyPlus. If you have previously booked with us follow this link https://ymca-akl-ham-bop.aimyplus.com/Account/Login. Log in to your account, click the ‘dashboard’ in the menu bar at the top of the screen, click on ‘make a booking’ and complete the booking into the desired programme. Select the payment method. Full payment is due at the time of making a booking (unless you qualify for the OSCAR subsidy).

4. Confirm your booking and receive a confirmation email with the programme details and instructions.

That’s it! You have successfully booked a Y’s OSCAR Kids’ school holiday programme.

What clothing/equipment does my child need to bring?

Active kids are happy kids! Clothing children can move in is best, and for those who go hard, a change of clothes is always great to have in the bag. Children will need to bring a drink bottle, sunhat, morning tea and lunch every day. Please note - shoes must be worn on trip days.

Do you provide lunch?

No, lunch is not included. We provide afternoon tea each day - please pack morning tea, lunch and a drink bottle for your child/ren.

What is your signing in and out process?

We take this really seriously, thank you for following our guidelines each day and supporting our teams. Children must be signed in and out each day by an authorised person. You can add as many people as you would like into your AimyPlus profile to collect your child. If someone turns up to collect a child and they are not on the approved list, we will call you to confirm. If your child will be making their own way to/from the programme please email oscar@ymcaauckland.org.nz so you can complete the arrive/depart unaccompanied form.

What if my child required medication?

If your child requires any special medications, please follow the following steps:

  1. Please complete a medical form via Aimy prior to the programme beginning. All children who have an ongoing medical condition, such as asthma, or a nut allergy much provide us with a current medical/allergy management plan
  2. All medication must be signed in and given to our programme staff. Please provide the medication in its original packaging showing the child's name and medicine type.

Do you have late pickup fees?

Yes we do. If your child is booked into a short day session, and you are later than 5 minutes to pick up your child, we will automatically charge you for the full session.

At the end of a full day session, after a grace period of 5 minutes, parents/caregivers are liable for late fees at a rate of $2 per minute past the end of the session. Late fees are invoiced separately from the main booking fees.

How does The Y keep children safe?
