It’s fun to work at The Y!

We are seeking an experienced Group Fitness Instructor to join our team at North Shore Recreation Centre and lead our Senior Fitness classes “Goldfit”. If you have a passion for teaching fitness classes, and experience in instructing over 65s, we would love to hear from you! Our seniors want fitness and exercise, and they need engagement and community.

Our Goldfit class is a low impact exercise class for the over 60’s. It improves strength, flexibility, balance, and general fitness, which aids in fall provision and improves quality of life.

What will you be doing?

  • Planning and delivering fun, safe, and effective group fitness classes
  • Prescribe and demonstrate exercise
  • Generate a vibrant and inclusive environment
  • Proactively engaging with class participants
  • Create an inclusive community
  • Ensuring healthy and safe practices are followed
  • Helping to on-board individuals that have shown interest in our facility
  • Keeping a record of attendance
  • Collaborate with management to evolve the class to meet changing trends and demographic

What experience/skills do you need?

  • Group Fitness experience
  • Worked with older adults in an exercise capacity
  • Is REPs Registered (or able to train to be)
  • Holds a Group Fitness qualification (or currently studying)
  • Current First Aid Certificate
